BRONX (WABC) -- A 51-year-old man armed with scissors died after police used a Taser to subdue him in the Bronx Monday morning.
Authorities say officers responding to a 911 call of an emotionally-disturbed person found Mario Ocasio at the Loring Place apartment around 8:15 a.m. Ocasio was allegedly brandishing a pair of scissors and was acting violently.
Officers ordered him to drop the scissors, but he refused, police said.
A uniformed supervisor used a Taser on Ocasio, subduing him. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Ocasio was also given anti-heroin medications in an attempt to reverse the effects of drugs during the course of subduing him, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
