WAKEFIELD (WABC) -- A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old mother was found stabbed to death inside Bronx River Park.
Jasmine Gonzalez' ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Khiry'Amir Borden was arrested Sunday night and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say Jasmine was stabbed several times, and her body was covered with a sheet.
"I'm going to cry forever, she's gone and there's nothing I can do about it," says Jasmine's sister Jayselle.
Jayselle tells Eyewitness News that Jasmine's ex- boyfriend who lives in a shelter in Brooklyn, had custody of the couple's 2-year-old son. He had dropped the little boy at Jasmine's for 4th of July.
Jayselle says Jasmine was bipolar, schizophrenic, and suffered from ADHD, but was still very much a part of her son's life.
"That was her only child, that was her heart - he was everything for her," says Jayselle.
Friends say Jasmine and Khiry'Amir had a turbulent past, and that they were always arguing.
"He used to cheat on her, so then she finally moved on, found someone new, and he was jealous of that," adds Jayselle.
Jayselle also said that 4th of July was more of the same when the pair met at Jasmine's house.
"They didn't want to fight in front of the baby, so they took it outside, and I guess as they walked to the park, it got physical from there," she says.
Police spent most of Sunday talking with Khiry'Amir, and later arrested him that night.
"He called and said he was walking down in the park and found his girlfriend dead on the floor, he called police," says Jayselle.
Friends did not believe Khiry'Amir's story because of evidence they say detectives found inside Jasmine's house - a backpack full of bloody clothing that they say belonged to Khiry'Amir - clothing they say he tried to hide.
