It happened as the victim and his 5-year-old daughter were visiting Pundt Park in the 4100 block of Spring Creek Drive.

Harris County Pct. 4 Constable's Office Capt. Toby Hecker said the father was building a cave-type structure on a sand dune created by the floods. The tunnel -- stretching at least four to eight feet -- collapsed and he became buried under feet of sand.

The victim's daughter found a couple nearby, told them what happened and they called for help, Hecker said. It was too late. The dad was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's identity has not yet been identified, but we're told he was in his 30's.

Deputies say the recent flood waters created the huge sand dunes by Spring Creek.
