NEW YORK (WABC) -- Central Park is no stranger to horses from carriages to carousel to mounted patrols.
But this weekend debuts the first ever Central Park Horse Show and the first equestrian competition in the city in more than a decade.
This weekend is the first time ever to see competitive horse jumping inside of Central Park.
"We have certain obstacles in certain time, clear over jumps, and under the amount of time," said Mark Elkins, of the Mounted Auxiliary Board President.
No one is more excited than native New Yorker and world class rider Brianne Goutal whose been riding since the age of 5.
"Growing up in the city driving and riding and getting out to the barns," said Brianne Goutal, a professional horse jumper.
This weekend it's just one subway stop to go compete for the $200,000 prize with her 18-year-old horse Onira.
"It's an animal and personal working together and its different all the time and it's fun and its fast," Goutal said.
Talk about speed; crews and machines have been working nonstop on the set competitions inaugural setup.
It took just four days to transform Trump Ice Rink into a grand prix horse jumping arena complete with stadium seats.
World class riders are coming for four days of competition. Plus there will be a charity matchup called NYC vs. The World and will feature recognizable riders like Georgina Bloomberg and the Boss's daughter, Jessica Springsteen.
"Greatest city in world massive media market," said Mark Bellissimo, the CEO of International Equestrian Group.
Mark Bellissimo is the visionary behind the event. He recognizes the sports reputation as one of privilege and explains that's why the park is an important venue, because it brings the event to a mass audience.
"We've actually given away hundreds of tickets so that people feel a part of it and it's not such an elite event in the park," Bellissimo said.
And after all is said and done, these horses that work in Central Park might be the most invested of anyone this weekend. You see, the volunteer Auxiliary Mounted Horse team is the benefiting charity for the first ever Central Park Horse Show!
"Every penny that's donated to us goes to the horses," Elkins said, "To have horses in Central Park in New York City is wonderful and this is the dream of Vox and Umstead that there should be horses in the park."
