JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH -- When students and teachers at an Ohio middle school learned of an 8-year-old boy who wanted one thing for Christmas -- holiday cards -- they took action and made his dream come true.
The students at Harding Middle School made hand-made messages to Andrew Little, a quadriplegic who lost his mother a few years ago. He lives at The St. Joseph Home of Cincinnati.
The students drew cards with things Andrew loves -- like "Star Wars" characters and superheroes.
Teacher Tracy Ziarko told WTOV, "They related to him right away, and even put in their cards, I like 'Star Wars' or I like this person...they just really did a great job and they were proud of their cards as well."
Student Josh Schoonover said, "I hope he feels happy, and I hope he feels happy he gets all these cards."
Kristin Taylor, a fifth-grade teacher, said she was touched by Andrew's story. She said, "The kids that we have every day are our kids, and you tend to have that bond with any child, especially this time of year. And they're happy and they're excited. You want that for every child -- not just the ones in your classroom, not just the ones in your home, but every child."
Ziarko said, "Our kids have big hearts, and they just want to reach out to him and let him have a Merry Christmas like they will."
The cards will be mailed out this morning.
