LOS ANGELES -- "Dancing With The Stars" pro Derek Hough suffered injuries to his right foot and left ankle while rehearsing with former partner Maria Menounous for the 10th Anniversary TV special Monday night.
On Wednesday, the Rockettes announced that Taylor Frey will play Jack in the Radio City Music Hall's "New York Spring Spectacular" until Hough recovers from his injuries.
His publicist, Susan Madore, says Hough was "diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot and sprains to his left ankle on both the inside and outside aspects and a bone bruise on the same ankle". Hough will remain in Los Angeles this week to rehab his injuries.
"A fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs. Can't believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell. All that dancing, flipping, jumping and the thing that stops me in my tracks is something as simple as a light and some stairs. I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I'm determined to come back stronger than ever," Hough posted on Instagram from the emergency room.
The photo showed him wearing a support bandage on his left ankle and some sort of support shoe on his right foot.
Fellow pro dancer Mark Ballas, songwriter BC Jean and Corky Ballas accompanied Hough on his late-night hospital trip. His colleagues also wished him a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, his partner, Nastia Liukin, will train with Sasha Farber.
