As announced on the Disney Parks Blog, the Main Street Electrical Parade, a historic fan-favorite, which has run at Walt Disney World off and on since the summer of 1977, will end on October 9, before returning to Disneyland for a limited time.

Disneyland is where the Main Street Electrical Parade originated, back in the summer of 1972. The Main Street Electrical Parade was inspired, in part, by the Electrical Water Pageant at the Walt Disney World resort's Seven Seas Lagoon (part of an opening day celebration that charmed guests to the point that it's never left), and instantly become an iconic event of the park's nighttime landscape. The floats, festooned with glittering lights, would parade down Main Street to the tune of "Baroque Hoedown," a prototypical electronic ditty originally released in 1967. Since opening at Disneyland, the Main Street Electrical Parade has dazzled guests at Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Disney California Adventure and has inspired many of the Disney Parks nighttime spectaculars since, including Walt Disney World's SpectroMagic and, most recently, Paint the Night!

If you want to see the parade, which includes sparkly characters from Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Peter Pan (Tinker Bell leads the parade), at Walt Disney World, Disney Parks Blog wants to alert you that "there's still time to plan a trip to Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy the magic and nostalgia of the parade one last time." And for those out west, be sure to enjoy the parade during its limited time encore engagement!
