Suspect charged in fatal East Northport hit and run

EAST NORTHPORT, L.I. (WABC) -- Police have a Long Island man in custody for a deadly hit and run in East Northport.

Suffolk County police say 24-year old Ryan Bales fled early Thursday after striking 20-year old Alexander Zydel on Soundview Avenue.

Zydel had been thrown to the road moments earlier when he crashed his SUV into a tree.

He was due to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
