Man fatally struck by tire swing in East Village freak accident

EAST VILLAGE (WABC) -- A 39-year-old was killed in a freak accident when he was struck in the head by a tire swing in the East Village Monday.

Authorities say Aleim Perkins was aggressively spinning the tire in Tompkins Square Park when it struck him in the face at around 3:50 p.m.

He was knocked unconscious and was bleeding from the mouth.

He was rushed to Beth Israel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Perkins, who lived in Harlem, was with his niece at the time.
