'Hamilton' lottery shows take a break for winter

NEW YORK -- Producers of the smash hit "Hamilton" have announced that their ticket lottery is going digital and their impromptu daily performances outside the theater will take a break for winter.

The lottery offers 21 front-row tickets to the musical at the price of $10, the bill that displays the face of the show's hero, Alexander Hamilton, the nation's first treasury secretary. The lottery goes digital on Tuesday.

The lottery process outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre has become a draw because of the almost daily free performance from composer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda and other guests, including the casts of "Fun Home," "Spring Awakening" and "On Your Feet!"

Miranda on Twitter promised a brand new audio system when the live shows return in the spring.
