Here and Now: The impactful work of The Black Fairy Godmother Foundation

NEW YORK (WABC) -- On this episode of Here and Now, Sandra Bookman learns more about The Black Fairy Godmother Foundation, an organization that works hard to restore stability in black and brown families.

The foundation reports that African Americans experience food insecurity at 19.1 percent, while Hispanics experience it at 15.2, both two times the rate for white non-Hispanics.

We discuss the mission of this nonprofit with Simone Gordon, a strong, young mother who survived of domestic abuse herself, and is now helping others.
