MARBLE HILL (WABC) -- A man in his 30s was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash in Upper Manhattan Monday night, and police are still searching for the driver.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday at the intersection of West 225th Street and Broadway in the Marble Hill section.

Police blocked traffic as investigators were careful to get every inch of a terrifying crime scene on camera for possible clues.

"I heard a noise and I heard a boom, and the boom was a guy lying across the street dead," witness David Gibbs said. "I didn't see a car or nothing like that."

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Daniel Cabrera, was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he died from his injuries a few hours later.

"It was scary, it could have been me," Gibbs said. "It could have been me."

The vehicle, described as a Dodge Magnum, fled the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
