NEW YORK (WABC) -- Last-minute shoppers were rushing around Tuesday trying to snap up those final items from their Christmas list.
Luckily for all the procrastinators out there, some stores stayed open late and gave everyone a chance to get what they need this Christmas Eve.
Shoppers were out in force at malls and stores across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, scrambling for deals as the minutes ticked away.
Retail experts say the majority of Americans had not finished their shopping by this past weekend, and time is running short.
"I just had like a shortlist, what I forgot to get," one shopper said. "Pop into a few stores and that was it, came to get what I needed, that's it."
According to the National Retail Federation, 6 percent of shoppers wait until the day before Christmas to buy their gifts.
Many stores closed at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, but some, including Target and Kmart, remained open until 10 p.m.
