NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York Knicks are on the brink of history heading into Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.

In fact, it took a bit of magic and history for the Knicks to get to this point -- up 3-1 in the series -- with a shot to win their first title since 1973 with one more victory.

New York staged the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history in Game 4 Wednesday night, battling from a 29-point deficit, capped off by OG Anunoby's dramatic tip-in with 1.2 seconds remaining in the game, to seal the Knicks' victory.

Before Wednesday, no team had come from more than 24 points down in a finals game, when Boston did it against the Lakers in 2008, since the NBA began keeping detailed play-by-play for all four quarters in 1997. The Spurs led 81-52 in the third quarter.

New York's come-from-behind win is a microcosm for what has seemingly been in this squad's DNA all season: the penchant for pulling off the impossible.

The Knicks will now look to finish off their incredible playoff run on Saturday night on the road.

Game 5 is Saturday in San Antonio with tip off at 8:30 p.m. on ABC 7, your home for the NBA Finals. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:30 p.m.

Reports of confrontations with police outside Bryant Park watch party

It was a successful venue change at the Bryant Park for the outdoor watch party, but it was just outside the park during the game that things got a little tense.

Fans jammed the streets outside Bryant Park, 42nd and 40th streets, climbing cars and scaffolds to get a look at the screen inside -- but not wanting to actually be inside where they would've had to register and follow a few rules like not bring bags or smoke or drink alcohol. There was some fighting and some did get into confrontations with the NYPD- an officer can be seen using what appears to he pepper spray on some rowdy fans.

Bryant Park was the alternative location to the usual watch party outside Madison Square Garden after the secret service and NYPD decided there couldn't be a party on the garden's doorstep with the president in attendance for security reasons.

Knicks 13-game postseason win streak snapped, lose 115-111 to Spurs

The Knicks 13-game postseason win streak was snapped after they lost 115-111 to the Spurs in Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.

The Spurs handed the Knicks their first loss in 46 days and potentially salvaged their season in front of a Madison Square Garden crowd that included President Donald Trump.

The Knicks had their 13-game winning streak, the second-longest in NBA postseason history, snapped and missed a chance to move to the brink of their first championship since 1973.

Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox hit big shots late as the Spurs avoided falling into a 3-0 hole, which no NBA team has escaped. Now they can tie the series Wednesday night and are guaranteed another game at home, with Game 5 scheduled for Saturday.

Castle finished with 23 points as the Spurs got started in their quest to become the first team to win the NBA Finals after losing the first two at home.

Jalen Brunson scored 32 points and OG Anunoby had 28 for the Knicks, who lost for the first time since April 23 in Game 3 of their first-round series against Atlanta.
