Eric Adams says he's staying in New York City mayoral race
New York City Mayor Eric Adams says he will continue his bid for reelection in November.
Adams made the announcement at a Friday press conference following reports that advisers to President Donald Trump have been making efforts over the last few weeks to persuade him to drop out of the race -- a push that gained momentum in recent days with a potential ambassador post in Saudi Arabi being floated among the options to get Adams to drop out, sources told ABC News.
Eric Adams says he's still running for mayor amid speculation over the future of his reelection campaign.
The mayor called Andrew Cuomo a "snake and a liar," and insisted he is still running for reelection and will beat Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.
"I'm going to continue to give them (New Yorkers) my all," he said.

Trump advisers push for Adams to get ambassadorship to exit mayoral race: Sources
Advisers to President Donald Trump have been making efforts over the last few weeks to persuade New York City Mayor Eric Adams to end his reelection bid, sources tell ABC News, and the push has gained momentum in recent days with a potential ambassador post in Saudi Arabi being floated among the options to get Adams to drop out.
Sources tell ABC News the talks are fluid and could fail, but point to a recent in-person meeting between Trump adviser Steve Witkoff and Adams in Florida as a clear push to get this done.
Adams is said to be weighing his options, including opportunities in the private sector, though sources caution for now that a decision is not imminent.

Hochul speaks out on report of Trump meddling in mayoral election
Gov. Kathy Hochul said the president is not a king nor a king maker.
He should not be attempting to influence who is the next mayor, "that should be the right of New Yorkers to determine, no one should be accepting that assistance," she added.
The comments came at an unrelated event Friday morning days after Adams downplayed speculation that he would suspend his re-election campaign to serve in the Trump administration.
The president reportedly wants to narrow the field of challengers to prevent Zohran Mamdani from winning in November, a prospect regarded as "terrifying" to some in the city's business community.
