Eric Adams drops out of New York City mayoral race

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The election for New York City mayor is less than two months away and the candidates are working hard to get their message out to voters as the clock ticks closer to Election Day.

Frontrunner and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa are making campaign appearances and headlines regularly as November 4 nears.

In a video message posted to social media on Sunday, Adams announced he is ending his reelection campaign and dropping out of the New York City mayoral race. You can listen to part of his message in the media player above.

Mamdani, Cuomo attend Rosh Hashanah services Tuesday

Zohran Mamdani attended multiple Jewish services on Tuesday for Rosh Hashanah.

It comes as he tries to bridge the gap with some Jewish voters after past anti-Israel statements.

Also on Tuesday, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo addressed congregants at a synagogue on the Upper West Side.

Meanwhile Republican Curtis Sliwa campaigned at a subway station on the Upper West Side.

Mamdani attends synagogue, Cuomo visits a mosque in weeks leading up to election

Zohran Mamdani walked into Rosh Hashanah services for the first time Monday night at a synagogue in Brooklyn, appearing alongside New York City Comptroller Brad Lander.

The High Holy days present a unique opportunity for him to bridge the gap for some Jewish New Yorkers over the 10-day stretch who may be split.

Meanwhile, over the weekend Andrew Cuomo visited a mosque where he debated with an audience member over the assembly member's position on prostitution.

Some candidates have been more visible than others.

For incumbent Eric Adams, a spokesperson said he took part in private and fundraising events over the weekend.

Kamala Harris endorses Mamdani

Zohran Mamdani picked up a lukewarm endorsement from former Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday night.

Harris said she "supports the democrat in the race."

"As far as I'm concerned he is the democratic nominee and he should be supported," Harris said during an interview on MSNBC.

NYC mayoral candidates make final campaign push of the summer

Candidates made their rounds this weekend, getting in front of potential voters as each hopes their campaign for mayor can pick up steam.

Front-runner Zohran Mamdani was all smiles at the African American Day Parade in Harlem, receiving a warm reception by those who attended.

Meanwhile, Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa appeared at a 5K run in Bay Ridge, talking with voters and aiming to pick up their support.

Former Governor Andrew Cuomo spent the weekend campaigning at several houses of worship from Queens Village to Flatbush, touting his experience and urging voters to focus on his track record.
