NEW YORK (WABC) -- A nor'easter hitting the Tri-State is bringing excessive rain, damaging winds and coastal flooding.

Coastal flooding is expected during multiple high tide cycles through Monday as a prolonged onshore flow from our nor'easter combines with already high astronomical tides. The greatest threat for major, damaging flooding will be along Great South Bay (L.I.) and Barnegat Bay (NJ).

High Wind Warnings were dropped on Monday morning, but Coastal Flood Warnings remain for New York and New Jersey.

Ground delays at LaGuardia, JFK and Newark Airports amid nor'easter

There are currently ground delays at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, the following ground delays are in effect:

LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
Ground Delay: Average of 106 minutes due to low ceilings
Departure Delay: Average of 45 minutes due to weather/wind

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Ground Delay: Average of 102 minutes due to low ceilings

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Ground Delay: Average of 80 minutes due to low ceilings

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman declares state of emergency

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is declaring a state of emergency amid potential flooding from unusually high ocean waves that may push water into bays and surrounding waterways.

According to Blakeman's director of communications, the county will continue to monitor the situation hourly.

Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay off the roads, charge phones and flashlights, and ensure they have the necessary supplies to remain safely in place for an extended period of time.
