ROSLYN, Long Island (WABC) -- A Long Island woman is charged with driving drunk with a friend's 17-month-old son in the car.
Police say an officer observed 32-year-old Martha Castro of Roslyn speeding, swerving, and failing to stay in a single lane while driving a 2016 Lexus NX Eastbound on Northern Boulevard and Aster Lane at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday.
The toddler was in the backseat.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Castro's breath and observed that she had glassy eyes and slurred speech, police say.
She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 15, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The boy was released to his mother, who was also in the car at the time of the incident.
