New York Islanders surprise young boy with Lymphoma with an all-access pass

EAST MEADOW, Long Island (WABC) -- It's an experience of a lifetime for Brandon Bloom. The active 8-year-old who loves sports, especially hockey got the ultimate fan surprise.

The New York Islanders surprised him with an all-access pass to their practice. But that's not all. He was given an honorary locker for the day, as well as a custom jersey and ice skates at the Northwell Health Ice Center. He not only got to hang out with the players, but he also had the chance to hit the ice with them too.

In April of 2016, Brandon was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is undergoing treatment at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. He will complete his treatment in August of 2018.

Brandon's special day is part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Random Acts of Light Campaign. The campaign is part of a national movement that sheds light on the darkness of cancer by surprising blood cancer patients and survivors with unique and thoughtful moments, including the chance to meet with some of their favorite athletes and celebrities. So far, more than 30 individuals have received Random Acts of Light.
