Suspect injured in police-involved shooting in Newark

NEWARK (WABC) -- A man accused of firing at police officers in Newark is in the hospital after being shot by police.

It all started during a traffic stop on South Orange Avenue near Sunset and Alexander Streets Saturday night at around 9:30.

Police say the suspect got out of the car and opened fire.

The officers fired back, hitting the suspect.

He is being treated for non-life threatening officers.

Newark Police were also investigating a man and a woman shot inside a home. Prosecutors say the two events are most likely not related.
