BRONX (WABC) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in the Bronx. Police say there are no signs of a gunman or a gun.
It happened inside of 810 Astor Avenue around 5:04 p.m. Thursday.
The crime scene unit is trying to piece together what happened in the apartment.
Sources tell Eyewitness News they're going through video posted online using Facebook Live in some period of time before the crime actually took place.
The video apparently showed some number of people in that apartment in the period of time before the shooting.
Police hope it will at least help them to understand who was in there, so they can try to figure out how this shooting took place.
Sources close to the investigation tell Eyewitness News Ackeem Davis and a group of friends had been hanging out in the apartment when someone pulled out a gun and shot Davis in the chest.
When police arrived they did not find a weapon. They also did not find the person who shot that weapon.
The investigation is now well underway as Davis' friends and family come to terms with this horrible loss.
"He was in to basketball. We used to always play basketball. He was a good kid though," said Josh Caldero, a friend.
"He was a nice well known kid. Very good. Not a troublemaker. He didn't deserve that," said Rachel William, a family friend.
Friends and family gathered in front of a series of candles that have been laid out as the investigation continued a few floors up.
So far, there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
