LINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- A huge fire that destroyed an abandoned warehouse in New Jersey last week is being labelled suspicious.

But authorities say it is too soon to know whether the blaze in Linden was set on purpose.

Investigators have ruled out the possibility that the flames were caused by a technical failure.

The fire broke out in the large commercial building on West Elizabeth Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The city clerk says officials have been unable to find the property's owners, who disappeared while owing a large amount of taxes.

The building was believed to house hazardous materials, so New Jersey Transit and Amtrak suspended train service while firefighters battled the blaze.
