Family desperate for answers after young woman found critically injured on side of road
Stacey Sager has the story.

CLIFTON (WABC) -- An exasperated and desperate family is keeping vigil at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, praying that 22-year-old Anna Semioli of Moonachie will pull through. Her friends and family say she was found along Route 46 in Clifton around midnight on Thursday, in what police are now calling a hit and run. Now her family is desperate to find the person who is responsible.

"My baby sister is in such critical condition - please come forward and say something!" says Anna's sister, Gina.

Anna's friend, Danielle Martino says there were eleven 911 calls reporting that they had seen a body on the side of the road, none saying that they had seen a hit and run.

"Nothing, and you know, we're so desperate to find out who, why, what, what happened," Danielle says.

Police told the family that Anna's injuries are consistent with a hit and run, but all her sister knows is what Anna said in her last phone call on Thursday night - that she was going to visit friends at her school, Montclair State University. No one has heard a word since, certainly not among the dozens at the hospital. Anna's friend Gianna Martino says that strikes her as something that is not right.

Stacey Sager: "So with all those people that are in there, not a single one is one of those people she was visiting that night?"

Gianna Martino: "No. No one from Montclair."

Stacey Sager: "Does that strike you as strange?"

Gianna Martino: "That strikes me as something is wrong."

Now that several days have passed, Anna's family has yet to even hear from Passaic County Prosecutors. That, they say is unacceptable, and that they want a call from them.

"The Passaic County Prosecutor - if you guys are supposed to be doing the work, do the work! Why do we have to contact them? Why do I have to find your phone number?" says Gina.

Eyewitness News called the Prosecutor's office and said they are diligently working on the case.
