NYPD officer shot during standoff in Brooklyn

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An NYPD officer was shot in the leg in gunfire with a barricaded suspect in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on Friday morning.

The officer was taken to Kings County Hospital where he is being treated and is expected to recover.

The suspect was also shot and is listed in critical condition.

The suspect had been barricaded in an apartment on Kosciuszko Street since before 6 a.m. on Friday.

Police responded to the scene after neighbors called 911, reporting gunfire around 5:45 a.m.

Police established a dialogue with the suspect and hours later around 9 a.m., shots were fired.
