Family of severely beaten boy Jaden Jordan raises money for his funeral

GRAVESEND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- The mother of a 3-year-old boy who died after he was beaten in his Brooklyn apartment raised more than $8,000 for his funeral.

Jaden's mother, Raven Haynes, closed her GoFundMe page after raising $8,020 to allow the family to "honor him in a respectful, private and peaceful ceremony."

"I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for their generosity and heartfelt comments," said Hayes. "While there are never any words that can capture the sorrow and grief of a loss so overwhelming, your sharing of personal stories, words of encouragement, support and prayers have helped to provide moments where such anguish has been assuaged."

Jordan was allegedly assaulted by 24-year-old Salvatore Lucchesse, the boyfriend of Jordan's mother, at their home in Gravesend, Brooklyn.

Lucchesse was arraigned last week on four counts of assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The cause and the manner of the boy's death are all part of a continuing police investigation.
