NEW CASSELL (WABC) -- Police on Long Island say they've arrested a woman after her three young children were found home alone.

Officers responded to Roman Avenue in New Cassell just after noon on Wednesday.

Upon gaining entry, the officers observed the children, ages 2, 5 and 6, in the home unsupervised.

The children's mother, 23-year-old Ebony Robinson, was found while walking home from work on West John Street and Newbridge Road in Hicksville, where she was placed under arrest.

The children were transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation and were later released to Child Protective Services.

No injuries were reported.

Robinson is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
