NEWARK, N.J. (WABC) -- A livery taxi cab driver was fatally shot in Newark.
Rodrigo Berru, 45, of New York, was fatally shot Friday around 9:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue, according to the Newark Police Department and the Essex Prosecutors Office.
Berru, who works for Classic Taxi, was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m.

According to co-workers, Berru was a native of Ecuador and one of 13 children. It appears that most of his family is in Ecuador; he was unmarried and had no children. His co-workers described the victim as always jovial and a body builder.
The investigation is ongoing. There have been no arrests and no suspects have been named.
