BROOKLYN (WABC) -- Students carrying shop equipment apparently sparked a lockdown at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn.

According to officials, a teacher reported seeing three individuals who she didn't recognize carrying what she thought to be knives in the building around 1:00 p.m.

She reported it and officials placed the school on lockdown.

Dozens of anxious parents showed up at the school as seen in photos shared via Twitter.

Police and school officials investigated and it turned out to be 3 students who were going to shop class with cutting instruments that they were instructed to bring with them.

The lockdown was lifted around 2:30 p.m.
