Police searching for driver in fatal Bronx hit and run

THROGGS NECK, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who fatally hit a bicyclist in the Bronx, then drove away.

According to the NYPD, around 1 a.m. Saturday, a man was hit when he attempted to cross East Tremont Avenue mid-block. He was hit by a silver 2000-2003 BMW X5 that took off, and was traveling East.

Police say the victim is 26-year-old Giovanni Nin from the Bronx. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, police have put up signs in the area alerting the public of what happened, and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
