VIDEO: Thief 'deflates' Long Island family's holiday cheer by stealing giant snowman

CENTRAL ISLIP, Long Island (WABC) -- The search is on for a woman who was caught on camera literally deflating one family's holiday decorating tradition on Long Island.

Surveillance video shows a woman enter the front yard of a house on Ackerman Street in Central Islip Monday between 1 and 1:15 a.m.

The young woman, who is wearing a leather jacket, a grayish backpack and yellow hat with ear flaps, is seen unplugging and deflating a 6-foot, 5-inch tall snowman. It took about 15 minutes to unplug and slowly let the air out of the lawn ornament.

"She took her sweet time," said Edison Sepulveda, the snowman's owner.

The Sepulveda family has been putting "Frosty" the snowman on their lawn each holiday season for the last 13 years.

"It was one of our first decorations when we first moved in," Sepulveda said.

And now it's gone.

The family said they're not going to let this thief ruin their holidays, but this crime has them fuming.

"Anger. Anger, because nobody does that -- just comes to somebody's home and takes their holiday decorations," Sepulved said. "That's not the holiday spirit, right?"
