Man honored for saving four NYPD officers

Juan Lopez was honored Thursday night by the New York Building Construction Trades for saving the lives of four NYPD officers back in March from a fiery crash.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A man was honored for an heroic rescue, saving four New York City police officers from a fiery crash.



Juan Lopez was honored Thursday night by the New York Building Construction Trades.



Lopez is an apprentice steamfitter.



He and his siblings witnessed a police cruiser and a van collided back in March, both vehicles immediately burst into flames.



Lopez and his family pulled the men to safety.



Lopez received the 2014 Building Futures Award and a proclamation from the Office of the Public Advocate.
