2 arrested after multi-city police chase in New Jersey

BLOOMFIELD, New Jersey (WABC) -- A multi-city police chase in New Jersey involving a man wanted by officers ended in the arrest of two men Wednesday afternoon.

The ordeal started at about 2 p.m. in Irvington and went into Newark, then Bloomfield and back into Irvington before coming to an end on the Garden State Parkway.

Eyewitness News cameras were at the scene when two people were taken into custody.

Officers had been search the Bloomfield area earlier in the day looking for the man who was wanted by police.

Police sources said officers may have been involved in a chase with the same suspects earlier, but lost the vehicle. Once they found it later, that's when the chase really took off.

Police said the suspects ended up ditching the Mercedes SUV they were driving, leaving it on the side of Parkway. And that's when officers were able to arrest them.
