1 woman killed, another critical in Astoria apartment fire

ASTORIA, Queens (WABC) -- One woman died and another was critically injured in a fire in the Astoria section of Queens.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the apartment building on 35th Street just after 10:50 p.m. on Thursday.

A woman in her 90s was found unconscious and unresponsive. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Queens, where she was pronounced dead.

Another woman, a 61-year-old, was taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
