The NBA Finals are here! The New York Knicks are the Eastern Conference champions, sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers to make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. They will face Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio Spurs, who dispersed of two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder in an epic seven-game Western Conference finals.
The Knicks kicked off the 2026 NBA Finals with a Game 1 victory and stole Game 2 to take a 2-0 series lead over the Spurs. It was New York's 13th straight win this postseason, which surpasses the 1998-99 Spurs for the second-longest postseason winning streak in a single postseason in NBA history. The franchise is battling for its first NBA championship in 53 years (1973).
The Spurs bounced back in Game 3, stealing a win in Madison Square Garden, but the Knicks pulled off thelargest halftime comeback in playoff history to defeat the Spurs in Game 4.
All four rounds of the playoffs are best-of-seven, and teams are not reseeded after each round. The team with the better regular-season record in each series will have home-court advantage for that series. All series are played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format, with the team with the better record hosting Games 1, 2, 5 and 7.
