NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police say an erratic driver was taken into custody after the spectacular collision that closed the Queens-bound RFK Triborough Bridge for hours on Tuesday night.
It happened just after 6:30 p.m. on the westbound bridge.
The driver first smashed into an unmarked police cruiser, sparking the multi-car crash. His car burst into flames and an SUV overturned.
The driver was taken into custody for allegedly driving erratically and suspicion of drunk driving.
He was taken to the burn unit at a local hospital for injuries.
Five other people were treated for injuries, with some taken to Mount Sinai Queens.
Queens-bound lanes were closed for three hours for the investigation and reopened around 9:30 p.m.
