Man fatally shot in Starlight Park in Bronx, no arrests

CROTONA PARK EAST, Bronx (WABC) -- A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in Starlight Park in the Bronx early Thursday.

Ronell Marte, 26,was shot in the chest just before 2:50 a.m.

He was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests were immediately made.

A 17-year-old was fatally shot in the same park in June.

Thursday's shooting is the latest in a string of recent violence in the borough. It has been highlighted as an issue in the mayoral race.
