NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- In this edition of Up Close, Bill Ritter examines this year's race for mayor of New York City and looks ahead to next year's gubernatorial race.
The race for New York City Mayor took yet another interesting turn last week: former New York Gov. David Paterson decided to endorse Mayor Eric Adams for reelection.
This comes a few weeks after Paterson was part of an effort to narrow the field of candidates. Previously, he had supported former Gov. Andrew Cuomo to try to improve chances of defeating Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, the current frontrunner in the race.
David Paterson joins Bill Ritter to explain why he endorsed Adams.
Also joining the show is Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, discussing his run in next year's race for governor of New York.
Despite being chosen by current Gov. Kathy Hochul for his current role, he's now turning to run against her for the Democratic nomination.
Plus, political consultant Hank Sheinkopf weighs in on this week in politics and the race for mayor.
Up Close airs Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. on Channel 7, WABC-TV in New York City.
