NEW YORK (WABC) -- Heads up train commuters: Major service changes are in effect for some branches of the Long Island Rail Raid this weekend.
The service changes on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches of the LIRR began early Saturday morning and last until 2:15 a.m. on Monday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.
For Port Jefferson Branch passengers, service is suspended between Mineola and Huntington. For service between these stations, shuttle buses will be available hourly and make stops at Hicksville, Syosset and Cold Spring Harbor.
There will also be no LIRR service at Carle Place and Westbury. For service to and from these stations, the MTA recommends using the NICE n22, n24, or n35 bus, which will accept LIRR tickets at no additional cost. Overnight, limited shuttle bus service will also be available at these stations.
Meanwhile, on the Ronkonkoma line, trains will run between Penn Station and Ronkonkoma every two hours and be rerouted via the south shore.
Between the Jamaica and Farmingdale stations, trains will change direction twice, but will not make any station stops. Passengers should give themselves at least 50 minutes of extra travel time to get to their destinations.
There is also no service at Bethpage, and commuters should instead catch a train at either the Farmingdale or Seaford LIRR stations.
According to the MTA, the service changes come as transit officials perform signal upgrade work in Hicksville.
You can find the latest updates on LIRR service changes on the MTA website.
