
ELIZABETH, New Jersey (WABC) -- A man was killed and several other people were injured after police say a woman drove into a Planet Fitness gym in Elizabeth on Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 12:20 p.m. at the gym on Newark Avenue.
Police say a 72-year-old man near the front window was killed, and a 59-year-old man on a treadmill suffered cuts and abrasions after the driver, a 69-year-old woman, crashed into a bank of windows just to the left of the entrance.

The driver suffered injuries consistent with airbag deployment, according to officials.
The circumstances of the crash are not yet clear but police say everyone is cooperating.
The buildings department in Elizabeth determined there is damage to the building and it will be closed until further notice.
Planet Fitness issued the following statement in response to the deadly crash:
"At Planet Fitness, the safety of our employees, members, and guests is a top priority, and we are extremely saddened by this tragic accident and loss of life. Our thoughts are with the member's family and those impacted during this difficult time, and we are grateful to the first responders who provided immediate assistance."
