Woman charged with DWI after e-bike rider killed in crash on Long Island
MELVILLE, Suffolk County (WABC) -- Police have arrested a woman on a driving while intoxicated charge after a car crash killed an e-bike rider Saturday morning in Suffolk County.
Police say the accident happened on Bagatelle Road at Eastbound Express Drive South, Melville at 1:06 a.m.
According to officials, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, 24, was driving a 2018 Subaru Forrester southbound on Bagatelle Road when she attempted to make a left turn onto Eastbound Express Drive South.
Her vehicle struck a man who was traveling north on a Razor fly-wing e-bike.
The e-bike rider was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
