PARKCHESTER, The Bronx (WABC) -- A subway train operator in the Bronx was punched in the face after waking up a sleeping passenger on Friday, police say.
The 58-year-old was putting a northbound 6 train out of service in Parkchester just after 10:30 p.m.
Police say the operator attempted to wake up a sleeping man on the train. When the man woke up, they say he punched the conductor multiple times in the face and fled the scene.
The operator was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
"Another senseless, heinous attack on one of our members took place last night," said TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello.
The suspect has not been apprehended.
