New Jersey mayors, leaders to go 'over the edge' for clean water fundraiser
BOONTON, New Jersey (WABC) -- More than 20 mayors and municipal leaders from across New Jersey have agreed to participate in a unique fundraiser for the New Jersey Highlands Coalition's (NJHC) 2026 Mayors' Challenge.
The event, "Over the Edge for Clean Water," brings together elected officials from communities across the city to raise funds that support the NJHC's mission to protect the Highlands, the source of drinking water for 70% of New Jersey residents.
Participants raise a minimum of $1,000 for the opportunity to safely rappel 20 stories down World of Blue hotel.
"Protecting the Highlands requires bold leadership. Going Over the Edge is a fun, unforgettable way to demonstrate that commitment while raising critical funds for clean water," said NJHC Executive Director Julia Somers.
The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, September 19th, at World of Blue in East Rutherford.
Spectators are welcome to attend the event that runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
