
NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- The search is one for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Newark, New Jersey.
It happened around 4 a.m. Friday on Empire Street.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office said two people were walking when a car slammed into them.
The driver kept going.
One person died at the scene. The other is hospitalized in critical condition.
A damaged vehicle was found under an overpass for Route 22, but it's unclear if it was the one that was used in the crash.
