BELLE MEAD, New Jersey (WABC) -- At just 16 years old, Angela Butz has already made a name for herself in the field of conservation.

The talented New Jersey native is shining a light on the importance of preserving biodiversity.

Her work toward planting native species and creating a better environment for pollinators has earned her a winning spot in Disney's "Hop into the Animal Kingdom Challenge."

The nationwide competition, inspired by Disney and Pixar's new film "Hoppers," is honoring outstanding youth who have demonstrated a commitment to the environment.

Notable work that earned recognition ranged from a children's education book about orangutan conservation to innovative prototypes of artificial reef modules.

Butz is one of just 10 extraordinary young people to win this award.

The talented group of winners have received an invitation to Walt Disney World for an exclusive youth summit and 30th Anniversary finale celebration in honor of the Disney Conservation Fund.

Under the initiative, they also can start new projects or continue existing projects with grants provided by Roots and Shoots, a program founded by the late Dr. Jane Goodall that inspires young people to have a positive influence in their communities. Roots and Shoots also celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.

The exceptional youth have paved a way for future generations with their work. Their efforts serve as a reminder that there's no age limit in making a difference.
