Suspects allegedly robbed NJ man of $30k Cartier watch in Hudson Yards

MANHATTAN (WABC) -- The NYPD is looking for a group of people who allegedly robbed a man of a $30,000 Cartier watch in Hudson Yards.

Police said on Saturday at 5:15 p.m., a 46-year-old man from New Jersey was walking in front of 438 West 37th Street when he was approached by the armed suspects.

The suspects demanded the victim's Cartier Santos wristwatch and produced a gun, police said.

They attempted to flee in a taxi after forcibly removing the watch from the man, police said.

The group fled on foot and police need help identifying the individuals.

No injuries were reported, but the victim told Eyewitness News he was shaken up by the mugging, and plans to be more alert of his surroundings from now on.

"I told them, 'you're not getting my watch, so shoot me,'" the victim said. "A cab came down the block. I stopped the cab. I got in the car, I said, 'drive.' He didn't move. They had me pinned down on my arm. They went in my pocket, took my money, credit cards, debit cards, driver's license, all that good stuff and then they snapped my Cartier watch off my wrist."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
