NEW YORK -- NYPD officers begin working 12 hour shifts Wednesday due to the "unprecedented demands" on the police department, including July 4th, Sail4th 250, the FIFA World Cup, and a possible wedding at Madison Square Garden.
A message, obtained by ABC News, was sent to the rank-and-file informing officers of their potential assignments.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Police Commissioner Tisch plan to discuss the security planning and preparations on Wednesday.
They also plan to detail what millions of spectators can expect for the fireworks, which launch this year from both the East and Hudson Rivers.
