
BAYSIDE, Queens (WABC) -- Police are searching for two suspects accused of stabbing an off-duty NYPD officer during an early-morning confrontation in Queens.
The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, according to police. Investigators say the 30-year-old officer was involved in a verbal dispute with two individuals outside local businesses before the encounter turned violent.
Authorities said the officer was stabbed in the right hand during the altercation. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and is listed in stable condition.
Detectives are now working to determine what sparked the dispute and are searching for the two suspects, who remain at large.
