Paul Simon concert film sets Disney+, Hulu premiere

LOS ANGELES -- A brand-new streaming release is about to give music fans the ultimate front-row seat to Paul Simon's latest tour.

Hulu announced that "Paul Simon: The Quiet Celebration Concert" will premiere June 26 on both Disney+ and Hulu. The two-hour film was recorded live at McCaw Hall in Seattle during the legendary singer-songwriter's recent acoustic tour.

Along with the announcement, a new trailer features Simon reflecting on the challenges he faced leading up to the shows.

"I was recording the "Seven Psalms" album, and I started experiencing hearing loss in my left ear," Simon says in the trailer. "I had no idea how performing live could be done. It took me years to play with musicians again."

The concert film features the first-ever live performance of Simon's Grammy-nominated work, "Seven Psalms," alongside reimagined versions of his classic hits and deeper catalog cuts.

The tour marked a major milestone for Simon, who had to adapt to performing again after experiencing that hearing loss. To preserve the intimacy of the music, he chose to play exclusively in smaller venues known for their acoustics.

"This tour has enabled me to play with musicians again," Simon said. "I really missed it. Everybody has enjoyed the experience so much. There's been a feeling of camaraderie and elation that we were playing this piece of music that we were really interested in, and that had a significant effect on me. It made for one of the most extraordinary tours I've done - maybe the most joyous."

The film is directed by Emmy winner Joel Gallen and engineered by Grammy winner Biff Dawes. It is presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Legacy Recordings and Green Juice Films.

A companion live album will release on Oct. 9, with preorders starting June 26. The album will be available as a three-LP vinyl set, a two-CD set, and across all digital music streaming platforms.

"Paul Simon: The Quiet Celebration Concert" premieres June 26 on Disney+ and Hulu.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+, Hulu, and this ABC station.
