MIDTOWN (WABC) -- Police are searching for the person who repeatedly stabbed a man in the back, killing him, near Times Square early Monday.
The 23-year-old man was attacked on West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue around 1 a.m.
He suffered multiple stab wounds to his back as well as a wound to his right thigh.
The victim, later identified as Daevon Silva, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe this was part of an ongoing dispute that may have spanned several city blocks.
Silva has no criminal record in New York, but does have a long criminal history in Rhode Island, where he is from.
Three men fled the scene. One was wearing a black ski mask with a purple sweatshirt, one was wearing a black bomber jacket with a logo on the back, and the third was wearing all black.
So far there have been no arrests.
The fatal stabbing marked the second homicide in the Midtown North police precinct in as many days.
Gibson Winters, 39, who was released from federal prison three years ago, was fatally shot outside a nightclub in Hell's Kitchen early Sunday morning. No arrests have been made in either homicide.
