

THROGGS NECK, Bronx (WABC) -- A 34-year-old woman was shot multiple times outside a home in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx Monday night, and police are searching for two masked gunmen who fled the scene in an SUV.
The shooting happened outside a residence on Hollywood Avenue just before 10:10 p.m.
Officials say it happened when the woman pulled into her driveway, and her 15-year-old son got out of the car to open the gate. He yelled for her to look out, and she was shot while in the driver's seat.
She was struck in the left arm and buttocks.
The victim was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and is expected to survive.
Police said the suspects fled southbound on Hollywood Avenue in a gray SUV, possibly a Kia. One of the men was wearing a black Nike sweatshirt. No arrests have been made.
Detectives do not yet know what prompted the shooting and continue to investigate a possible motive.
It is also still unclear if the victim knew the suspects or if she was targeted.
Meanwhile, officials say crime is down significantly in the 45th Precinct. Not counting the most recent shooting, there have been four shooting victims so far this year compared to nine this time last year.
And there has been one homicide so far this year, compared to six by this time last year.
